Integrating data, EDI and VMI/VMR in a highly complex global supply chain

An increase in the volume of inventory being managed and the growing complexity of global distribution networks meant Friul Intagli faced a strategic challenge: extracting insights from vast quantities of data to make efficient operating decisions at every stage of the process – from orders through to invoicing.

The turning point came when a client (strategically important on account of their high order volume) requested they adopt a Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)/Vendor Managed Replenishment (VMR) model. It was no longer a matter of exchanging documents. They had to develop a collaborative model that relied on data sharing and total supply chain visibility.
